The 2025 Harvey, IL Fourth of July Celebration took place on Friday, July 4, bringing the community together for a fun-filled day of festivities. The lively afternoon parade stepped off with residents and visitors lining the streets to enjoy colorful floats, local marching bands, stilt walkers, and community groups. Organized by the City of Harvey, the event drew a large and enthusiastic crowd.
Following the parade, the celebration continued with a family-friendly carnival along Broadway Avenue outside City Hall. Attendees enjoyed food trucks, bounce houses, a gaming truck, rides for all ages, and plenty of activities for kids and families. The day wrapped up with a spectacular fireworks show, lighting up the evening sky and capping off a memorable day of community pride and celebration.
The University of Chicago Medicine was proud to be part of the festivities, contributing both financial support and an active presence in the parade. The Simulation Unit ambulance showcases UChicago Medicine’s cutting-edge training for EMTs and nurses, including a “dummy” used to simulate real-life emergency scenarios. Staff members from across the organization came together to represent UCM. They walked alongside the float, passing out sunglasses and glow necklaces, adding to the festive spirit and connecting with the community.
