FINANCIAL NAVIGATOR

Oncology Financial Navigator Program Huge Success for Patients

One of the programs the Ingalls Development Foundation funds as part of the Comprehensive Community-Based Cancer Research and Oncology program is financial navigation for patients who otherwise would not be able to pay for their treatment.

Ingalls Memorial’s full-time financial navigator, Cameron Williams, has helped make the program tremendously successful and impactful, said Paul Donohue, VP of Philanthropy & Community Relations at Ingalls. Williams has helped patients receive 607 financial awards totaling more than $1.5 million from 2021-2024. He projects fiscal year 2025 will exceed the amount received in 2024.

As part of his role, Williams helps patients evaluate their healthcare benefits to determine their out-of-pocket costs for treatment and identify resources that might help them lower that amount, which includes foundations, pharmaceutical-sponsored programs and local philanthropic organizations that could help with co-pays and deductibles.

For more information about the Cancer Financial Navigator program at Ingalls, email Cameron Williams at cameron.williams@uchicagomedicine.org.
