Additional Ways to Give

Say 'Thank You' to our Heroes

Right now, our healthcare workers are on the frontlines of battling the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that’s spreading rapidly throughout our city, state and nation. These brave souls cannot shelter-in-place with their loved ones or stay 6 feet away from sick patients. They are putting themselves in the path of this virus — in Chicago and around the world — in this unprecedented crisis.

The stakes are high and the challenges innumerable — too little information, dwindling personal protective equipment, changing protocols and no second chances. Yet, our doctors, nurses, technicians, transporters, EMTs, pharmacists, and everyone who supports patient care are rising to the occasion and caring for our most vulnerable populations.

Thank you — from everyone at UChicago Medicine and Ingalls Memorial — for the sacrifices you make, every day and especially during this pandemic. Your dedication, commitment and courage deserve our deepest gratitude and admiration. Your service to patients is saving countless lives and making thousands of differences.

To express your appreciation and gratitude for these everyday heroes, visit Facebook.com/ingallsdevelopmentfoundation and use #ThousandsofDifferences to share encouraging words, artwork and thank you notes.  Additionally, you may write a note below to UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial staff. Don’t know what to say?  Here are samples:

Thank you for working so hard to keep us safe and save lives.  You are turly appreciated.”

“My family is so grateful for all you are doing. We wish you good health and safety during this trying time.”

“To all healthcare workers and first responders, THANK YOU!!”

EDGE Employee Giving:
Ingalls Non-Employee

EDGE Employee Giving: Ingalls Non-Employee

EDGE is the UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial employee giving program. Contributions from employees represent a commitment to advancing the well-being of our hospital family as well as the communities we serve. Through EDGE, formerly known as the Key Club, employees have donated nearly $4 million over the years.

Important hospital programs and clinical services such as integrative medicine, cancer research support, the healthy baby network and community impact grants are all supported through contributions to the foundation, including those from our valued employees.

In addition, EDGE members have opportunities to participate in volunteer activities that benefit our patients and community.  Finally, all EDGE members who contribute a minimum $3 per pay period, qualify for monthly cash drawings, including our year-end Jackpot drawing pulled live during the Annual Benefit Gala! However giving at any level is important and appreciated. There is no gift too small as every donation helps.

If you would like to participate, please fill out the form below or contact Maria Perez at 708.915.6115.

Planned Giving

Protect your financial security while sustaining a cause you believe in with a planned gift to Ingalls. You can take advantage of a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime by naming the Ingalls Development Foundation as a beneficiary of your will, trust or life insurance policy.

You may also access special tax benefits by naming the Ingalls Development Foundation as beneficiary of a retirement plan, such as an IRA.

The following are brief summaries of common planned gifts.

Gifts from your Will or Trust (Bequest)

Charitable bequests are made through a will, a legal document specifying how an individual’s property is to be distributed after death. It is a simple designation in your will, but it does not affect your cash flow during your lifetime. It’s also easy to revoke if your situation changes.

Using a separate document, known as a codicil, you can include UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial as a beneficiary.

Or, simply add the following language to your will: I give, devise and bequeath to Ingalls Development Foundation, Harvey, IL, a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization the sum of $_______ to be used by its Board of directors, in carrying out its corporate objectives and purposes.

The net proceeds of all funds received from wills and bequests will be spent exclusively in support of UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial.

Donor-Advised Funds/Stocks, Securities, Property & Insurance

Use a donor-advised fund to easily support Ingalls while also gaining favorable tax benefits. Donating shares of securities like stocks, bonds and mutual funds is a tax wise alternative to cash contributions.

We would be delighted to work with you and your representatives to visualize and create your philanthropic investment. Contact the Foundation at 708.915.6118.
