“I’m a survivor. Three  years ago I was in the grocery store and passed out in the check out lane.  They called the ambulance and brought me to Ingalls Hospital. After more tests I had stage 4 colon cancer.  When I wake up each morning I am thankful for each day. I tell myself I want to die living and not live dying.”

SERVICES AND LOCATIONS

Complementary services of hand or foot massage, reiki, or meditation are offered in the infusion centers while the patients are receiving their infusions.

One day a week, full 50 min treatments of these services are offered to the patients at our off-site center in East Hazel Crest, IL

Twice a month wellness gatherings are offered at our East Hazel Crest location.  Types of topics include:  “Coping With Sleeping Issues”, “Skin Care During and Post Treatment”, “Benefits of Meditation”, “Relieving Stress With DIY Techniques”, etc.

COMMUNITY NEED

Massage, reflexology, and reiki are all known to help with many of the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, lower anxiety and pain, improve energy, and decrease nausea.

For some patients, their time at the wellness center is the only interaction they have with people not directly involved with their treatments/disease.
