Representative Robin Kelly (D) and her colleague, Representative Bob Latta (R) of Ohio participated in a Bipartisan Congressional visit to UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial. Paul Donohue, Vice President, Philanthropy and Mary Jo Crandall, Vice President, Operations hosted the representatives.

The Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, D.C. organized the trip through its American Congressional Exchange Program. The purpose of the visit was to promote bi-partisanship in Congress and build relationships among elected leaders from both parties.

Representative Kelly invited Representative Latta to her district following her own trip to Representative Latta’s district in Ohio last year. Ingalls was included in a tour of the district that included multiple stops in Chicago and the South Suburbs.

Mr. Donohue and Ms. Crandall hosted a lunch meeting with the CEO’s of area hospitals including Advocate South Suburban, Family Christian, Roseland Community and Franciscan Olympia Fields. Among the topics discussed were the pandemic, its effect on the workforce and mental health. The hospital leaders also briefed the congressional leaders about the state of maternal health in the district.

Representative Kelly said she was grateful for the opportunity to visit Ingalls and share the experience with her colleague from Ohio in a spirit of cooperation.
