Brenda is currently receiving cancer treatment via clinical trials through the UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Oncology Department.
In January 2023, Brenda was diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer. When asked about her experience, Brenda asserts, “My recovery journey has been amazing to say the least, thanks to my unwavering faith in God and the superb care I am receiving under Dr. James Wallace and his team.”
Brenda is enjoying her first year of retirement after serving 42 years as a nursing professional. Brenda often says, “I served my profession well as it served me well.” The 65-year-old recently widowed mother of four wonderful children is also the proud grandmother of 10 precious grandchildren.
By taking part in a clinical trial, Brenda is helping the oncology community learn more about cancer, which can help improve care for patients all around the world.
